Understanding Money…

… is understanding better the actual financial crisis. We have never talked so much about money since we’ve been told that we could lack some soon.

But do you know how money really works? Do you know the mecanisms behing money creation? We often believe that money is created by country states but it is only partly true. Most of it is created by banks, using debts to do so.

To understand money matters, here is a captivating video (cut in 5 digest parts here) from Paul Grignon, really worth the time spent watching it. And time is … money!

Once done, you might be interested in the 10 points “rescue plan” proposed by Michael Moore. His 10th point is based on the idea of creating a national bank, a “people’s bank” set up by people for people. This idea is, to my opinion, to link to micro-credit initiatives like the one started by Muhammad Yunus, a Bangladeshi banker and economist who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006.

Finally, to have a full “Financial Starter Pack”, why not create your own money? You can use this powerpoint kit to personalize your very bank notes.

Play with Geography

As explained in the rules, for once … you have a good reason to play, so … go ahead, you have a valid excuse to do so!

This game has several games levels so you can train or go for a challenge where you’ll play against time and try to locate countries, name them, find their flag or location on a map.

A little time is needed at first to get used to the navigation but once you master it, no problem to zoom in or out on the map. A little stressful for the first time as you can hardly see countries you are asked to locate and the clock is ticking, it becomes really fun as soon as you find you way on the map.

Don’t forget to read instructions first as you might lose a few points due to misunderstanding

Can it be possible? Where it takes a lot of time and expensive tools to build a Flash animation, is it possible to find a tool that could be both easy to use and not too expensive (well, free as far as we are concerned)? Well, even for being able to build a simple animation, the treasure hunt has not been easy but here we are … not one but two solutions that allow you to build Flash animations easily and at no charge!!!

The Effect Generator

Totally web-based, the Effect Generator has a nice design and the first impression is rather good but navigation reveals a bit disappointing as many elements are dissaminated all over the screen. Features are quite advanced but I missed the possibility to add a new page to my animation (or … I didn’t find it). Well, gloablly it seems a promising application, it’s free and i’m sure many will find it perfectly suitable to their but… I just didn’t have enough to see how it could meet mine … But please, do not hesitate to post your comments if you test it.

Same thing for both: if you test either Powerbullet or the Effect Generator, let me know …
